Would You Rather…Space Edition: Children’s Book Review

Most of us are familiar with “would you rather” games of many different natures. These types of games can be fun for adults and kids alike. Our big family recently went on a long road trip to the western side of South Dakota. This is about a 13 hour drive for us with five kids under 12 all packed in the car like sardines. There was a lot of “are we there yet”, “how much longer?”, and “I’m bored” going on in that vehicle. The alphabet game only goes so far, so having a few interactive game books can go a long way.

Normally, I don’t much care for trivia or quiz books, but Would You Rather…Space Edition: A Family Friendly Space themed book filled with Funny Scenarios, Silly Situations, and challenging choices is super long, so it can get the job done. This book has 200, yes 200, would-you-rather style questions in a space theme. The space theme works well for most kids since the mysteriousness of space is fascinating to children across many ages and genders. While my toddlers were not all that impressed, my school aged kids enjoyed doing a few of the questions every so often.

I like that it is so long. Obviously NOT, if you were going to read it all in one go. However, it can be broken up into 20 questions at a time. Or for the sanity of the parent, maybe only go through 10 questions per night. I don’t know about you all, but I have five kids and they all need to argue with each other over every question, so just a few would-you-rathers can fill an hour.

This particular book is published by Brain Bison Press and can be found on Amazon in paperback and kindle. The paperback version is in black and white, but I don’t think it matters much since you’re getting it for the questions, not the pictures. Admittedly, I was skeptical. As an adult, I often fail to really recognize what will be a hit with ME versus what will be a hit with the KIDS. This one is a hit with the kids. Plus, I can appreciate them using their compare and contrast skills while not trying to kill each other. It is a win-win.
