It is only right to treat it well and cover it with healthful ingredients that won’t do harm. One such company that made this move to more natural skincare easier is Green People.
Green People was founded in 1997, by a mom looking for a better product for her child’s sensitive skin. All of Green People’s products are free of sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, alcohol (ethanol), synthetic fragrances and synthetic dyes. Green People quickly became a favorite in natural beauty in the U.K., and now it is being established here in the United States.

We have been trying out the Organic Babies Soothing Baby Salve, organic Children Bath & Shower Gel (Berry smoothie), organic Children Shampoo (in lavender Burst), and organic Babies Baby Wash and Shampoo (Unscented).
Organic Children Bath & Shower Gel (Berry smoothie)
The Organic Children bath & shower gel in berry smoothie smells great and can be used as a bubble bath or shower gel. it actually works fine as a shampoo as well. My three year old loves bubbles in her bath, but some products make the eczema rash on her calves flare up. A lot of bubble baths can also encourage urinary tract infections if the product has ingredients that irritate her delicate skin. Without harsh foaming agents, Organic Children bath & shower gel is a more logical choice. we love how the light fragrance is natural and not overwhelming.
Organic Children Shampoo (in lavender Burst)
The Organic Children Shampoo is safe for delicate scalps and won’t over-dry. It washes and rinses clean, leaving behind a light lavender scent. It also contains tea tree oil, which is known to help fight dandruff and yeast. This shampoo does suds up a bit, so it goes further than non-sudisng natural shampoos. However, it contains no SLS, and the only sulfates are coconut based. The Organic Children Shampoo leaves our toddler’s hair very soft without stripping it and making it tangle easily.
Organic Babies Soothing Baby Salve (Lavender)
The Soothing Baby Salve is a great all around item. This can act as a diaper balm, intensely moisturizing lotion, nipple balm, cradle cap lotion, and more. It is the skin cure all! I used this massage into my daughter’s scalp to loosen the crusty cradle cap, plus the lavender scent is very soothing for right before bedtime. It calms the redness on facial eczema and creates a moisture barrier for pesky diaper irritation. I would also like to point out, the ingredients are cloth diaper friendly. This salve has no ingredients that should cause overt buildup in your cloth diapers. Even the beeswax should wash right out if your use hot water in your diaper wash.
Organic Babies Baby Wash and Shampoo (Unscented)
This baby wash has no scent, although Green People does offer it in a lavender version. Lavender can be very calming to use before bed time, so some people prefer it for a night time bath. This baby wash is gentle, very low sudsing, and non-drying, It won’t sting on dry skin or eczema. It is 83% organic with natural botanicals. Unlike regular soap, it rinses completely clean without leaving a film. It also leaves hair soft and fresh. this baby wash is an all-in-one for baby’s bath time. when bath time is over, your baby just smells like……your fresh baby!
The Organic Babies Baby Wash and Shampoo can also be used in making cloth wipe solution. Just use it in place of the soap or baby wash in any of your favorite wipe solution recipes. For an easy wipe solution, mix a tablespoon of Organic Babies Baby Wash and Shampoo, one tablespoon olive oil, and a few drops of lavender and tea tree essential oils. Mix until emulsified. Then add it to a liter of water. You can pour your solution over a container of cloth wipes or store it in a spray bottle for use.
All Green People products are vegetarian friendly and do not contain any mineral oils. How exciting to have this line available in the states! The adult organic skin care line is also pretty affordable.
