A Fruit Explosion, Happy Babies, & A Late Planting

These Three Things

Produce up here leaves a lot to be desired most months of the year, although it is a lot better than it was years ago. So with fruit season showing up, I am in bliss, as are the kids. The tub of blueberries that would normally be $23 and bitter is $8 and sweet. I passed my gestational diabetes testing and am now indulging in all that natural sugar.

The kids have adjusted to the new house fairly well, but the weather has kept us inside much of the time. It is either always raining or blistering hot outside causing their faces to get overheated in minutes. Today it is tornadoes or something. Having a little patio with a functional, though falling apart fence, has been very convenient. some days are just a sibling fight fest I try to diffuse with icee pops.

new beans

We were a few weeks late with planting our zucchini, cucumbers, beans, and tomatoes. We will still get something out of it, but not as much as we would if we had planted right after ground thaw in late May. Oh well. We won’t be taking advantage of all the garden space this year anyway. We don’t have the money for plants, and couldn’t seed any while our other house was showing. Luckily, our friends and families always have extra vegetables and chickens to offer us. 🙂
